Letter [manuscript] : H.M.S.Hood, to Captain Hartland Mahon. 1924.

Letter written aboard H.M.S. Hood, between Honolulu and Vancouver, 14 June 1924, conveys Sir Frederick Field's disappointment that Captain Hartland Mahon was not appointed as Officer Instructor of the North of Ireland RNVR [Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve]. Field also writes of the "Empire Cruise", his two months in Australia, speeches requesting more money from Government for Naval Defence, and hoping to 'shame' Canada for not contributing to the Empire.
